CanCare celebrates the gift of leadership and guidance brought to us through the members of our Board of Directors. These dedicated executives strive to spread CanCare’s message of Hope throughout the community and offer their knowledge, experience and support to ensure CanCare’s mission of improving the quality of life of cancer patients and their families is fulfilled.
As a fundamental component of CanCare, the Friends Boards consist of the Friends of CanCare Board, the Friends Advisory Board and the Young Friends of CanCare Board. These three groups work to raise awareness and funds for CanCare through special events and community outreach. The Friends of CanCare and the Friends Advisory Board co-host CanCare’s National Cancer Survivors Day Luncheon each year. The Friends also organize runners (known as Team CanCare) for the Houston Marathon, run the FUNFARE Tennis Tournament and host the Annual CanCare Golf Classic at Lakeside Country Club.
The Young Friends of CanCare, a group of young professionals in their 20’s and 30’s, have made great strides since their founding in 2004. The group hosts an annual crawfish boil as a fundraiser and has social events throughout the year to promote awareness about cancer to their generation.
CanCare’s Board of Representatives members act as liaisons between CanCare and our member congregations to help spread CanCare’s message of Hope and share our services with others in their congregations as well as those within our community. The CanCare Board of Representatives also participates in the Annual Interfaith Clergy Luncheon.
